Polly Gribben

I was brought up in the County Antrim countryside and have always enjoyed exploring the land.  I have vivid memories of sunny days filled with river paddling, bluebell hunting and tramping through forests.  

Inspired by the design in nature I saw around me, I pursued a career in architecture, studying at the Mackintosh School (Glasgow School of Art).  I thrived on the study of light and space and our environment, achieving a first class honours degree and a Masters in architecture.  I won a number of awards for my student work with the Glasgow Institute of Architects.  My ideas of form and place and my fascination with 'lines in the landscape' have now translated into my paintings. As an architect I was concerned with the containment of space in buildings, but as a painter I find the 'uncontainable' nature of the sea and sky of particular interest to me.
